My work focuses on international humanitarian law, civilian protection and harm, civil–military engagement, mediation, and institutional reform in fragile and conflict-affected settings.

Rebuilding Credibility in International Humanitarian Law, Norms and Principles
Independent report drawing on high-level roundtables, interviews, and consultations to examine the ethical, legal, cultural, and operational drivers of norm erosion in contemporary conflict, and their implications for humanitarian action, civilian protection, and the rules-based international order.
2021
Co-edited publication and accompanying website documenting a six-year initiative led and funded by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, exploring how artistic practice can support political mediation and help unblock stalled peace processes.

Integrating a Protection-Centred Approach into the Humanitarian–Development Nexus in Mali
Commissioned by the Swiss Development Cooperation, examining how protection and human rights considerations can be meaningfully embedded across nexus programming in protracted crisis settings.

Putting People at the Centre of Humanitarian Action: Empowering Women and Girls
Policy contribution to the UN at 70 process, analysing gender-responsive humanitarian action and lessons for advancing women’s rights and protection in crisis contexts.

Planning from the Future
Research undertaken with the Policy Institute, King’s College London in collaboration with Tufts University and the Overseas Development Institute, contributing to reform debates ahead of the World Humanitarian Summit.

Review of the interpretation and implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, informing development of the UK National Action Plan and wider defence policy on Women, Peace and Security.

Multi-donor evaluation and analysis of international peace operations in Afghanistan, East Timor, Sierra Leone, and Kosovo, published with King’s College London.
Selected Convenings & Roundtables
Convenor – Roundtable on the Erosion of International Humanitarian Law and Humanitarian Principles
Designed and facilitated a series of closed expert discussions examining the ethical, legal, cultural, and operational drivers of erosion of norms in contemporary conflicts, and the implications for civilian protection, humanitarian action, and the credibility of international laws and values.

Facilitator and Adviser – Informal Dialogues on Civilian Harm and Civil–Military Engagement
Supported structured dialogue between humanitarian, military, and policy actors on civilian harm mitigation, interpretation of international humanitarian law, and the practical challenges of civil–military engagement in active conflict settings.
2023-25
Co-Convenor – Arts in Peace Mediation Process
Co-led a multi-year international process, supported by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, bringing together mediators, artists, policymakers, and practitioners to explore innovative approaches to political mediation and dialogue.
